Chelsea captain Reece James is positive that the team would end the season strongly.

The England international spoke after his side’s 2-1 defeat against Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday.

He made his return to Chelsea’s starting XI after a lengthy spell out due to injury.

James was replaced in the 53rd minute with Renato Viega and after the games, he highlighted Chelsea’s progression under new manager Enzo Maresca this season.

“If we step back and look at performances and what we are trying to do, we have come a long way.

“It is still early days; we haven’t been with the manager,” James told Sky Sports (via Fabrizio Romano).

Next up for Chelsea in the Premier League is a home game against eighth-placed Newcastle United on October 27.
