Real Madrid captain, Luka Modric, on Saturday became the oldest player to represent the club.

At 39 years and 40 days, Modric has surpassed Ferenc Puskás’ record set in 1966.

The Croatian midfielder marked the feat with an assist as Los Blancos beat Celta Vigo 2-1 in LaLiga.

Since he joined Madrid from Tottenham Hotspur, Modric has won 27 trophies across 13 seasons.

Modric is also set to rack up 550 appearances (he is currently on 547).

Striker Raul is the club’s record appearance maker, having featured in 741 games from 1994-2010.
