Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has left out Trevoh Chalobah from his squad for the US pre-season tour.

Maresca considers Chalobah surplus to requirements at Stamford Bridge.

Despite taking part in pre-season training at Cobham this month, the defender is now expected to seek a permanent move away this summer.

Maresca regards Wesley Fofana, Axel Disasi and new signing Tosin Adarabioyo as providing quality and squad depth as right-sided centre-backs.

He will use pre-season to look more closely at highly-rated Cobham prospect Josh Acheampong as a right-back alternative to club captain Reece James and Malo Gusto.

Chalobah had turned down a £25 million offer from Nottingham Forest on deadline day of last summer’s transfer window.
