Marseille new signing, Adrien Rabiot has expressed his admiration for former Super Eagles defender, Taye Taiwo.
Rabiot claimed his childhood affection for Taiwo played a key role in his decision to join the Ligue 1 club.
The midfielder recently joined the former Ligue 1 champions on a free transfer after severing ties with Juventus.
“When I was younger, I loved watching Marseille play,” Rabiot said at his unveiling ceremony.
“It was the era of players like Niang and especially Taye Taiwo. I admired his strength, his presence on the pitch, and his ability to score incredible goals from the left-back position.
“Watching him and others made me dream of one day wearing the same shirt.”
Taiwo spent six years at Marseille, helping the club win the league title in 2010.
He also won two Coupe de la Ligue in 2010 and 2011.
