Actor Rahul Bose says he had a lovely working relationship with his Bulbbul co-star Triptii Dimri, who was yet to become an established name in the industry before the acclaimed 2020 Netflix film. Directed by Anvitaa Dutt, Bulbbul was a turning point in Triptii’s career after her breakthrough with Laila Majnu in 2018.

During an interview with Siddharth Kannan, Rahul Bose opened up about working with Triptii in the film and spoke about the horrific and much-discussed sexual assault scene in the film. The actor said while filming the particular sequence, he had devised a safe word, “Rahul”, which Triptii would use anytime she felt the act was getting triggering for her.

“There is a difficult scene in which the twin brother rapes and kills her. She dies on the bed, it is horrible. While we were rehearsing the scene, I told her that her safe word is ‘Rahul.’ Whether you have been assaulted or not, this is triggering. Everybody has that fear, ‘One day this might happen to me’.

“I told her once the camera starts rolling, I will become this beast, so if it triggers her, she should just say Rahul and I will stop and become like this (normal), don’t worry. She was so strong, centered, such a kind and talented person. We had a lovely relationship, it was always gentle, kind and fun. It was a pleasure working with her,” he added.

After the period horror, Triptii Dimri worked with Anvitaa in Qala, which also won the actor acclaim. But Triptii earned wider recognition after starring in Ranbir Kapoor-led Animal, which released last year.

The actor then featured in Vicky Kaushal-starrer Bad Newz and is now gearing up for three releases– Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 and Dhadak 2.
