Former Chelsea defender Scott Minto has insisted that Arsenal should not have signed Kai Havertz from the Blues last summer.
Havertz has enjoyed a rich vein of form of late but Minto is yet to be fully convinced by the Germany international.
Speaking on the Premier League All Access Podcast, Minto said, as quoted by The Boot Room:
“I would not call him key, but over the last few games I would say he’s justifying his tag.
“I still think they didn’t need to buy him, and I stand by that, but he’s stepping up isn’t he?”
He added: “Kai Havertz is stepping up, he’s scoring in good moments, he is getting that confidence and he is getting more involved.
“One thing I would have said until recently is that if he is not scoring what is he doing?”
