Falconets head coach Chris Danjuma wants a positive start as his side gear up for their Group B contest against Morocco at the African Games 2023.

The defending champions will do battle with the North Africans at the Cape Coast Stadium on Friday (today).

The Falconets enter the tournament with confidence and determination to retain their title having already sealed a place at the 2024 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup.

Danjuma also harped on the need for his team to make a statement in the women’s football event.

“Thank God we have qualified for the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup Colombia 2024; we want a good justification by coming here and exciting ourselves and knowing that we are able to match every other team that has qualified for the World Cup,” Danjuma told a press conference.

The gaffer is aware the Moroccans, who are one of the emerging forces in African football will be desperate to beat his side.

”In every competition, Nigeria is the team to beat,” Danjuma added.
