Former Arsenal defender William Gallas has insisted that he is not convinced Kai Havertz will have a great season at the club despite the German’s impressive run of form lately.

Arsenal spent £65 million to sign Havertz from Chelsea last summer.

He initially struggled to justify his fee and win over his new fans.

Gradually, the 24-year-old has begun to establish himself as a key player in Arsenal’s starting XI.

Havertz even scored a goal in Arsenal’s recent Premier League 4-1 win over Newcastle last weekend but Gallas is not convinced with the player’s late form.

“At the beginning, I didn’t understand why Arsenal signed him,” Gallas told Lord Ping.

“We were talking about players that are moving from one English club to another, Kai Havertz from Chelsea to Arsenal, normally he should not need time to adapt, like Declan Rice.

“Even though he’s scored in his last few games, I’m not convinced he’ll have a great season. What is a great season for him?”
