Chelsea legend, Pat Nevin has kicked against manager, Enzo Maresca playing Enzo Fernandez in a number 10 role.
According to Nevin, the Argentina international doesn’t have the pace required to play as an attacking midfielder.
Fernandez seems to have fallen down the pecking order recently in Maresca’s squad
The midfielder started Chelsea’s first seven league games but Maresca has opted to start Romeo Lavia in midfield alongside Moises Caicedo ahead of Fernandez in their past three league fixtures.
Speaking about Fernandez, Nevin told Squawka:
“It was suggested they thought he was going to be a number ten sort of player. And I can’t see that.
“He’s not pacey enough, there’s not enough passing for that position. Not in comparison to Palmer, Felix or Dewsbury-Hall, absolutely not.”
