It has emerged that two of Manchester United’s Premier League rivals also activated Ruben Amorim’s release clause at Sporting Lisbon.
United have already sealed an agreement with Amorim and the Portuguese champions.
The 39-year-old will replace Erik ten Hag at Old Trafford from November 11.
According to A Bola, West Ham and Saudi Arabian club Al-Nassr previously triggered his release clause.
Liverpool also had identified Amorim as a potential candidate to replace Jurgen Klopp. However, they were reluctant about paying the release clause and ended up appointing Arne Slot.
West Ham then attempted to appoint Amorim, but ended up appointing Julen Lopetegui in May to succeed David Moyes.
In September, Al-Nassr were also willing to pay Amorim’s release clause, but he declined the offer, with the Saudi club appointing former Milan boss Stefano Pioli instead.
