Manchester United interim manager Ruud van Nistelrooy has said he would love to stay at the club amid the imminent arrival of Ruben Amorim.

The Red Devils are believed to have reached an agreement with Sporting for Amorim.

However, the 39-year-old is not expected to begin work until the middle of November.

There is, however, no clarity over if Nistelrooy will be given a role within Amorim’s coaching crew.

But he told reporters: “I’m motivated to stay at Man United. I will go back to my assistant contract that I have here for this season and next.

“I came as an assistant to help the club forward and I’m still motivated to do so in any capacity.”
