Atalanta manager, Gian Piero Gasperini has said Ademola Lookman’s club mates played a crucial role in his nomination for the 2024 Ballon d’or.
Lookman has emerged one of La Dea’s top stars since arriving at the club from Bundesliga outfit, RB Leipzig, two years ago.
The 27-year-old has won Atalanta’s Player of the Season award for the last two campaigns.
The winger’s incredible display for Atalanta in the final of the UEFA Europa League earned him the nomination for the prestigious Ballon d’or award.
Lookman eventually finished in 14th position in the final ranking.
Gasperini said the feat is a testament to his work and the support of his teammates.
“He knows he wouldn’t be here without De Roon, Ederson, Djimsiti, and the entire squad supporting him,” Gasperini told Gazetta dello Sport.
“It’s not guaranteed he would have achieved the same result if he were playing for a different team.”
