Arsenal manager, Mikel Arteta, has said he does not know why Kai Havertz didn’t take the penalty against Shakhtar Donetsk in their Champions League clash on Tuesday.
The Gunners were already one goal up, thanks to an own goal from goalkeeper Dmytro Riznyk, when a VAR check saw a spot-kick awarded for handball.
But Leandro Trossard stepped up and saw his kick saved by Riznyk.
After the game, Arteta was asked if Havertz wanted to take the penalty.
He replied: “I don’t know — I don’t know the conversation because he’s one of the takers, Leo decided to take it.
“Okay, he missed it, that’s it unfortunately.”
