The interim manager of England, Lee Carsley, has confirmed they will not “take a chance” on the fitness of Harry Kane.

Carsley has now revealed that Manchester City’s John Stones will lead the team out against Greece in the Nations League on Wednesday.

Kane picked up an injury during Bayern Munich’s 3-3 draw with Eintracht Frankfurt last weekend.

He will not be fit enough to start their Nations League clash.

England also face Finland in Helsinki on Sunday, and while Carsley has not ruled out the prospect of Kane coming off the bench against Greece, he is keen to have him available at the weekend.

Carsley told reporters: “Harry’s nursing an injury. A small knock. It’s something we won’t take a chance with.”
