Barcelona winger, Lamine Yamal, has explained why he was angry at being substituted during their LaLiga game against Alaves on Sunday.

Yamal was taken off in the 67th minute, with Barca leading 3-0 thanks to a Robert Lewandowski hat-trick.

The 17-year-old looked upset as he sat on the bench, a similar reaction when he was taken off in the Champions League match against Young Boys a few days earlier.

However, Yamal has now claimed that he was disappointed with his performance and should have done more to help his side.

“I thought I could play better, deep down I thought I could have played a better game,” Yamal told RNE.

“I demand a lot from myself. I think that’s the line I have to follow to be able to play every game at 100 per cent. It was with myself.”

When asked about his discussion with manager Hansi Flick, he said: “He asked me why I was like that, if it was because of the substitution or why.

“And I told him it was because of me, that I don’t think I helped the team very well, that I could help more… I told him that I would be 100% in the next game.”
