Manchester City midfielder, Rodri, is likely to miss the rest of this season.
Rodri had to be substituted during their 2-2 draw with Arsenal in the Premier League on Sunday.
According to ESPN, initial tests have revealed that the Spaniard has torn his anterior cruciate ligament, ACL, in the right knee.
Rodri is set for more tests, but everything points towards an ACL tear.
The 28-year-old, who is one of the nominees for next month’s Ballon d’Or award, is likely to undergo surgery in Barcelona.
Rodri’s importance to Pep Guardiola’s team is well-documented, with City losing three of the four Premier League fixtures the 28-year-old missed last season.
