Al-Ittihad’s new signing, Steven Bergwijn, has hit back at Ronald Koeman after the Netherlands manager brutally axed him from the national team’s sqaud.
Koeman had announced his Netherlands squad for their upcoming UEFA Nations League fixtures against Bosnia and Herzegovina on Saturday and Germany on Tuesday.
However, the former Barcelona manager omitted Bergwijn from squad.
Koeman also slammed Bergwijn’s decision to leave Ajax for Al-Ittihad, insisting that the former Tottenham Hotspur player won’t play for the Netherland again while he is manager.
But Bergwijn, who was part of the Netherlands squad that reached the semi-finals of Euro 2024 earlier this summer, has now fired back at Koeman, saying he doesn’t want to play for the Dutch coach anymore.
“I don’t even want to play for Ronald Koeman anymore,” Bergwijn told Telegraaf.
“I won’t play for someone who portray me like he has done in the media”.
“He could have called me, hear my side of the story. How can he say such things without talking to me?”
