Manchester United ace, Bruno Fernandes has said that his national team captain, Cristiano Ronaldo must feel good in order to continue playing for Portugal.
Ronaldo scored in the 34th minute to help Portugal beat Croatia 2-1 in the opening game of the UEFA Nations League in Lisbon on Thursday.
The goal was the 39-year-old’s 900th goal in his illustrious career. The Al Nassr frontman has a target of 1000 goals set for himself.
Speaking to the press after Portugal’s victory, Fernandes was asked about Ronaldo potentially spearheading Portugal at FIFA World Cup 2026.
And the Manchester United captain said, “He [Ronaldo] has to feel good. It depends on him. I know he will make decisions that are in his best interest and for the good of the team.”
Ronaldo’s exceptional goal tally for club and country includes a record-breaking 131 goals for Portugal, 450 strikes for Real Madrid, 145 for Manchester United, 101 for Juventus, 68 for Al-Nassr, and five for Sporting CP.
