Former Manchester City defender Micah Richards has backed Liverpool to challenge for the Premier League title this season.
Richards believes the Reds are serious now to compete for the English top-flight league title this term after failing to win it last season.
Liverpool are currently in the second position on the Premier League table behind Manchester City on goal difference after winning all their first three matches this season.
Speaking on the Rest is Football Podcast, Richards said: “Look what they have got from the bench, they have just signed Federico Chiesa who I think is outstanding. You’ve got Cody Gakpo who had a brilliant Euros who comes in and runs about. That is all still to come.
“I think they are serious now about challenging for the title. The reason I say that is because they seem more disciplined defensively and they have got firepower up front. They are challengers now.”
