Nigeria’s D’Tigress jumped four places in the latest ranking released by the Federation of International Basketball Association (FIBA) on Thursday.
D’Tigress are now ranked the eighth best team in the world.
Rena Wakama’s side’s rise is connected with their outstanding display in the women’s basketball event at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.
The African champions defeated top ranked teams Australia and Canada in the group stage.
They also made history as the first African team to make it to the quarter-finals of the Olympics.
D’Tigress bowed out gallantly to holders United States of America in the last-eight.
No African team (male and female) have ever made it to the top 10 of FIBA rankings
