The Borno State Government has lamented CAF’s decision to stop El-kanemi Warriors from playing their Confederation Cup home matches in Abuja.
The Maiduguri club have been mandated to play their home games at the Remo Stars Stadium, Ikenne by CAF.
CAF ruled that the Moshood Abiola Stadium, Abuja is not suitable to host international matches.
Borno State Commissioner for Sports, Sainna Buba, stated that playing in Ikenne will cost over NN5m.
“The past few days we have been battling to see how we can change this as CAF has released a bulletin that we will play in Remo (Ikenne),” Buba told Foot-Afrik.
“And playing there, we have to pay 5-6 million naira before we can use the stadium, so we are trying to sort out many things at the moment.
“It is unfortunate that throughout the North, there is no stadium that can host us.”
El-Kanemi Warriors will take on Beninoise side Dadje FC in the first leg of the preliminary round next weekend.
