France U23 captain, Alexandre Lacazette has insisted that a ‘great rivalry’ has been created between two great soccer nations amid the ongoing Paris Olympics Games.
The former Arsenal striker spoke while reacting to France’s quarter-final 1-0 win over Argentina in the Men’s football event on Friday.
The encounter had a rather fiery end, with both teams engaging in a mass brawl.
Speaking after the game, Lacazette said (via The Score):
“A great rivalry has been created between two great soccer nations.
“But given what’s been said in the past few weeks, our victory is there, on the field and off it. We had in mind what was said (in the video).
“We had to stay focused on the Olympic Games, but maybe it did give a little bit of extra motivation for us — and for France.”
