At least two countries have booked their places in the quarterfinals of the Paris 2024 Olympics men’s football.
DAILY POST reports that the two countries are Spain and Japan.
Japan advanced to the knockout stage after beating Mali 1-0 in the Group D encounter at the weekend.
Japan tops the group with six points from two matches, with a game to play in the final group tie.
The Asian country is ahead of second-placed Paraguay, which has three points from the same number of matches, while Mali and Israel both have one point each.
Spain, on the other hand, advanced to the last 8 after topping Group C with 6 points and a game in hand, closely followed by Egypt with 4 points from the same number of matches, while Dominican Republic has one point and Uzbekistan has none.
The quarter-final stage will commence on August 3.
