Manchester United manager, Erik ten Hag, has confirmed the club’s interest in signing Matthijs de Ligt from Bayern Munich.
However, Ten Hag has insisted that he hasn’t pushed for a transfer for his former player.
De Ligt is keen on a reunion with his former Ajax boss at United, but the Premier League side have allegedly held up the deal.
The Red Devils have added Leny Yoro from Lille this week, indicating a move from De Ligt may not happen.
Ten Hag told AD Sportwereld: “It remains to be seen whether De Ligt will come.
“I know Matthijs well and I will not deny that.
“I wanted to sign him two years ago but at that time, he was already very far along to join Bayern Munich (from Juventus) but believe it or not, his name did not come from me in the process (of targeting signings).”
