Shooting Stars have sent an official petition to the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) against referee, Joseph Ogabor over his poor handling of their matchday 19 fixture against Enyimba in Ibadan.

The chairman of the club, Mr Babatunde Olaniran disclosed this while addressing newsmen at the club’s secretariat on Tuesday.

Olaniran said having watched over the footage of the game by the technical department, the team were surprised why the referee overlooked a career wrecking injury inside the box of the visitor and the disallowed goal scored by Shooting Stars in the 95th minute of the game.

“We have written a petition to the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) board to show displeasure about the officiating of our last home game against Enyimba and we await their response to that effect,” he said in his address.

“It was a game that was probably the best game of the season by Gbenga Ogunbote’s boys but the officiating fell below par as it demoralized every single person that came to watch the good game at the stadium,” he said.

Enyimba defeated Shooting Stars 2-1 in the game, with Chijoke Mbaoma and Chibueze Izuogu scoring for the defending champions.

Ademola Kareem was on target for the home team in the game.
