Guinea-Bissau star Carlos Mane has raised the expectations of his countrymen ahead of Monday’s clash with Nigeria.
Baciro Cande’s men have endured a poor start at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, losing their opening two games to Cote d’Ivoire and Equatorial Guinea.
The Djurtus are yet to record a win at the AFCON finals.
The West Africans occupy the bottom spot on the Group A table with zero points.
They will need to beat the Super Eagles to have any chance of progressing to the Round of 16.
“We have zero points in the competition but we have to fight to get a good result. We will go into the game with a strong mentality, we will try to win,” Mane told a press conference in Abidjan on Sunday.
“We know Nigeria very well. They have a good coach (Jose Peseiro) . He was my coach at Sporting Lisbon four years ago.
“It’s going to be difficult to beat Nigeria, but we will play for our country and our family. We will surely make things difficult for them.”
