Chelsea may be unable to trigger the release clause of Crystal Palace winger Michael Olise, it has emerged.

The Blues have made contact with the Selhurst Park club on Thursday over a potential transfer.

However, the only problem is that Olise’s £60 million release clause only applies to Champions League clubs.

Chelsea will play in the Europa Conference League next season after Manchester United won the FA Cup final.

Newcastle United and Bayern Munich are also believed to be keen on Olise.

Chelsea, though, are now confident that they will not have to pay more for Olise than a Champions League club, according to The Telegraph.
