Bafana Bafana head coach, Hugo Broos has said his team will not be thinking about revenge when they confront Nigeria in Uyo on Friday.
Broos’ men lost to the Super Eagles in the semi-final at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.
The former African champions put up a spirited display in the game before losing 4-2 on penalties after the game ended 1-1 in regulation time.
The Belgian however said their target is to have a good result against the Super Eagles and not to avenge the defeat.
“We just want to have a great result against Nigeria, because it’s the qualifier for the World Cup. We don’t think about revenge.
“It’s a totally different game, we play for qualifiers for the World Cup and you know losing the game should not really be a disaster because after those two games we have six games to play but I would rather not have a defeat in Nigeria,” the former Club Brugge coach told reporters.
“We all know about them but they know all about us also. I think they will not start the game with the same mentality that they did for AFCON.”
