Jose Mourinho has joked that FIFA and UEFA should make Toni Kroos postpone his retirement.

The new Fenerbahce manager was speaking after Real Madrid secured another Champions League final victory.

Second-half goals from Dani Carvajal and Vinicius Junior saw Los Blancos lift a stunning 15th European title with a 2-0 win over Borussia Dortmund.

Kroos, who had revealed he would be retiring this summer, was given a standing ovation when Carlo Ancelotti substituted him with the game already won.

Speaking on TNT Sports, Mourinho called on the football governing bodies to intervene and halt Kroos from bowing out while still in his prime.

“It should be forbidden. FIFA and UEFA have so many rules and decisions. Make a decision and stop the guy from retiring,” Mourinho said.
