Fernerbahce have confirmed they are in talks with Jose Mourinho to become their new manager.

The Turkish club revealed this in a statement on Saturday.

“Negotiations have started with José Mario Dos Santos Mourinho Felix for the position of coach,” the statement to the Public Disclosure Platform (KAP) read.

Mourinho is believed to be on the verge of taking over Fenerbahce, who finished second in the Super Lig, three points behind champions and Istanbul rivals Galatasaray.

He replaces Ismail Kartal, who oversaw just one loss in the league, but six draws proved to be costly in the title race.
