Former African Player of the Year, Victor Ikpeba has warned the Super Eagles they must be at their best when they confront South Africa.
The Super Eagles will welcome Bafana Bafana to Uyo next week.
The 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier matchday three encounters will be held at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium on Friday, June 7.
Nigeria needed a penalty shootout to beat the South Africans during their last meeting in the semi-final at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.
Ikpeba reckoned the Super Eagles must step up to secure maximum points against Hugo Broos’ men.
“South Africa will be stubborn as we saw at the last AFCON,” Ikpeba was quoted by SCORENigeria.
“They have a lot going for them and are no longer intimidated by Nigeria.
“The Super Eagles have to therefore step up to beat them in Uyo.
“It won’t be an easy match, but Nigeria have the players to win.
This is a game of their lives and Finidi (George) has to get them to win this match.
“We have to support the team to get the job done.”
