Banyana Banyana defender Lebohang Ramalepe has described their upcoming encounter against Nigeria as a “do or die” affair.
The reigning African champions will be up against their longstanding rivals in the first leg of the 2024 Olympic Games qualifier at the Moshood Abiola Stadium, Abuja, on Friday.
The Super Falcons are looking to make a return to the Olympics after a 16-year absence.
South Africa on the other hand missed out four years ago in Tokyo.
The winner of the two-legged contest will earn a berth at Paris 2024.
Ramalepe stated that the desire of both teams to secure a place at the olympics will make the game a tough contest.
“Remember, both of us missed the last Olympics, so this game is a do or die kind of game,” she told The Sowetan.
“This is a new challenge for us and we are not going to dwell much on what happened in our last encounters with Nigeria because we might lose ourselves if we do that.”
