Holders Nigeria secured a place in the semi-finals of the women’s football event at the 13th African Games following a comprehensive 4-0 victory over Senegal.

Loveth Edeh opened the floodgate by netting the curtain raiser in the 13th minute.

No goal was recorded in the remainder of the first half despite both teams carving out scoring opportunities.

The Falconets went 2-0 up five minutes after the break through Motunrayo Ezekiel’s strike.

The Senegalese scored an own goal in the 51st minute to make it 3-0 in favour of Nigeria.

Chioma Olise added the fourth goal 10 minutes from time following a brilliant build up from substitute, Chiamaka Okwuchukwu.

Chris Danjuma’s side sit at the top of Group B standings with six points from two games.

The Falconets will face the second-place team in Group A in the semi-finals.
