The Flying Eagles of Nigeria fell to a 2-1 defeat against Uganda in their opening fixture in the men’s football event at the African Games 2023 in Accra on Tuesday night.
Kizma Osama gave Uganda the lead in the 35th minute.
The Flying Eagles fought back immediately with Sadiq Isiyaka nodding home from a corner kick.
Ivan Irinimabozi however netted the winning goal for the Hippos nine minutes from time.
Senegal defeated South Sudan 1-0 in the other Group B game.
Nigeria will face South Sudan in their next game at the Accra Sports Stadium on Monday.
