The Nigeria Premier Football League, NPFL, has granted Abia Warriors approval to play their home games at the Umuahia Township Stadium.

The NPFL Chief Operating Officer, Davidson Owumi gave notice of the approval in a memo sent to the club.

The memo stated that the provisional clearance is subjected to periodic review during the ongoing league season.

The NPFL also warned the Umuahia based club that the present structural state of the stadium facilities cannot receive approval to host games in the NPFL next season.

Abia Warriors have been urged to carry out extensive improvement on all components of the stadium ranging from the spectators terraces, changing rooms, television camera stands and the general outlook of the environment to be broadcast friendly.

The NPFL stressed that all the deficiencies highlighted must be taken seriously as its forms an important part of the club licensing requirements for the new season.

DAILY POST recalled that Abia Warriors were banned from playing at their home ground following complaints from opposition teams due to the poor state of the playing surface.

Abia Warriors will host Lobi Stars in a matchday 24 fixture at the refurbished Umuahia Township Stadium on Sunday.
