Joshua Zirkzee has been handed a first international call up days after indicating interest to represent Nigeria.
Netherlands coach Ronald Koeman has included the forward in his provisional squad of thirty players for the national team’s friendly games against Scotland and Germany.
Zirkzee will now wait to discover whether or not he is in contention to make his senior debut for the Dutch side.
The player has caught the attention of the Netherlands national team after registering ten goals and six assists in twenty-eight matches across all competitions for Bologna this season.
DAILY POST reported that forward recently stated that he was open to representing Nigeria.
His mother hails from Nigeria while his dad is a Dutch and the player is open to represent any of the countries but prefers his fatherland, from all indications.
He has already played in competitive matches for the European nation at U17, U19 and U21 levels.
