Akwa United will now play their home games at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo, following approval by the Nigeria Premier Football League board.

The Promise Keepers will host champions Enyimba on the ground in their matchday 23 tie next week Monday.

The one-time NPFL previously adopted the Eket Township Stadium as their home ground this season with the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium closed for international games.

The Godswill Akpabio International Stadium hosted Super Eagles 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying games as well as 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

The magnificent stadium also hosted Enyimba’s African Football League and Rivers United’s CAF Confederation Cup games.

Akwa United currently occupy 18th position on the NPFL table with 21 points from 22 games.
