Super Eagles defender, Calvin Bassey has received praise for his outstanding performance in Fulham’s recent Premier League 2-1 victory over Manchester United from Newcastle United legend, Alan Shearer.

Shearer commended Bassey for keeping Marcus Rashford under control throughout the game.

Bassey broke Fulham’s goal drought by scoring in the 65th minute.

He also registered four clearances, the same as teammates Tosin Adarabioyo and Antonee Robinson.

However, Shearer selected Bassey for his Premier League Team of the Week, saying that “He didn’t give Marcus Rashford a kick”.

Bassey was an integral part of the Super Eagles team that kept four clean sheets before losing to Ivory Coast in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations final.
