Taiwo Awoniyi will undergo a late fitness test ahead of Nottingham Forest’s away trip to Aston Villa on Saturday (today).
Forest manager Nuno Espirito Santo revealed after his side’s home victory against West Ham United last weekend that the forward is injured again.
Awoniyi opened the scoring for the Tricky Trees in the encounter and was replaced by Divock Origi around the hour mark.
Santo said during the week that the Nigeria international is building his fitness after spending around three months on the sidelines due to a groin problem.
“Taiwo Awoniyi is ‘fine’ as he continues to build fitness following his recent return,” Santo stated.
”We just have to manage the situation and see how it goes.
”It’s just part of the plan because of our situation.”
The 26-year-old has scored six goals in 14 league appearances for Nottingham Forest this season.
His international teammate Ola Aina has been ruled out of the game with injury.
