Terem Moffi has replaced injured Victor Boniface in Nigeria’s squad for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.
Boniface is ruled out of the competition after sustaining a groin injury in training.
The Bayer Leverkusen star is now expected to be sidelined for six weeks.
The 23-year-old will now fly back to Germany for treatment on his injury.
Moffi’s inclusion is now subject to the approval of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) and his Ligue 1 club, OGC Nice.
He was a shock omission on the final squad after consistency and goals in Ligue 1 since 2020.
