Bayer Leverkusen manager Xabi Alonso prefers to join Bayern Munich instead of Liverpool, according to Plettigoal.

Alonso is almost certain to be working at a new club next season.

The former Spain midfielder was initially linked with a return to Anfield after Jurgen Klopp announced he was leaving at the end of this season.

However, Bayern are not eyeing Alonson too, after they confirmed Thomas Tuchel will also depart in the summer.

With Alonso having the pick of both clubs, it is understood he would prefer to remain in Germany and move to the Allianz Arena.

Leverkusen are currently eight points clear of Bayern in the Bundesliga.
