Nottingham Forest manager Nuno Espirito Santo is hopeful Taiwo Awoniyi will not spend time on the sidelines again after the striker sustained another injury against West Ham United on Saturday.
Awoniyi scored Forest’s second goal in the 2-0 win against the Hammers at the City Ground.
The Nigeria international was replaced by Divock Origi in the 67th minute.
“We have to assess him and see how he is. We all know he has been struggling for a long time, and hadn’t played much,” Santo was quoted by Derby Unifoot.
“We have pushed him, and he’s done more than he should have. We hope it’s nothing serious.”
Awoniyi has struggled with injuries since his arrival at Nottingham Forest in 2022.
The 26-year-old recently returned to action after undergoing surgery for a groin injury.
The forward has scored six goals in 14 league appearances for the Tricky Trees this season.
