Jose Mourinho has admitted he was “hurt” by his sacking at Roma.

The Portuguese was dismissed last month following a poor run of results.

Mourinho joined the Serie A club in 2021 and led them to the Europa Conference League title in 2022.

Speaking with Rio Ferdinand for Football.com, Mourinho revealed that while he was with Roma, he snubbed offers to take charge of his native Portugal and a Saudi Arabia side.

He said: “Being sacked by AS Roma is the one that has been hurting me more. I gave everything.

“In these three years, I refused to become Portugal’s new head coach with the best national team ever.

“I also had a big proposal from Saudi Arabia.”
