John Mikel Obi has backed his compatriot, Victor Boniface to become one of the best strikers in the world.
Boniface has hit the headlines with his impressive displays for Bundesliga leaders, Bayer Leverkusen this season.
The 23-year-old has scored 10 goals and provided seven assists in the Bundesliga this season.
The forward has also won the Rookie of the Month award four times in a row.
Mikel, who played with a number of quality strikers during his active days is backing Boniface to rule the world in the next couple of years.
“He (Boniface) will become a complete striker in the next couple of years. He has the physique, he is quick, good on the ball, technically very good and it’s difficult to see strikers that are that big and strong and powerful and then good on the ball as well,” Mikel told Obionepodcast.
“His assists as well, not just scoring goals, is something that will make this kid special, really, really special. I can’t wait to see what his journey will be in the next couple of years.”
Boniface joined Leverkusen from Belgian Pro League outfit, Union St Gilloise last summer.
He is expected to play a key role for Nigeria at the upcoming 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Cote d’Ivoire.
