Newcastle United manager, Eddie Howe has explained why his team defeated Arsenal 1-0 in the Premier League on Saturday.
Howe watched as Alexander Isak’s first-half goal gave Newcastle United the victory over the Gunners at James’ Park.
Speaking to BBC MOTD after the game, Howe suggested that Newcastle defeated Mikel Arteta’s side because his players worked hard for the encounter.
According to him, his team defended really good in the second half against the visitors.
“Today’s performance was built on hardwork , desire and a lot of really good defending in the second half. I thought we looked good,” Howe said.
“It was 95 minutes of concentration and consistency in our attitude. We managed and controlled some very good players pretty well today.
“It’s three points but it means so much because we hadn’t won for a while in the Premier League. I’m sure it will do us the world of good.”
