Flying Eagles head coach Aliyu Zubairu has promised an improved performance from his team at the ongoing WAFU B U-20 Championship in Togo.

The defending champions sealed a place in the semi-finals after a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Cote d’Ivoire at the Stade Municipal, Lome, on Thursday night.

The Flying Eagles lost their opening fixture 1-0 to Burkina Faso.

Zubairu’s side will face Niger Republic in the semi-final on Saturday.

“The boys were jittery in the first game and that’s usually what you get in an opening game, but today you could see that it was a much-improved team,” he said after the game.

“In the semifinal, you will see a better Nigerian team. We cannot compromise because we have to qualify for the U-20 AFCON.”
