Super Eagles defender William Troost-Ekong has reacted to a viral claim that he was injured during the Round of 16 game against Cameroon in the Africa Cup of Nations, AFCON, and is doubtful for Friday’s quarterfinal clash with Angola.

The Super Eagles beat Cameroon 2-0 last Saturday and are set for Friday’s face-off with Angola.

Troost-Ekong and Victor Osimhen were not involved in the Super Eagles recovery session on Monday and this fueled the speculation.

Troost-Ekong has confirmed that he is ready to start against Angola if selected by manager Jose Peseiro.

“You are going to see a team as motivated as we have been for the whole tournament,” he told reporters in Abidjan.

“Our message has stayed the same throughout. We’re going to be trying to improve on what we did. It’s going to be a tough game.

“I’m struggling with a small injury since the Ivory Coast game so I’m just trying to manage myself. But I’ll be ready to play on Friday if the coach selects me.”
