Super Eagles assistant captain, William Troost-Ekong has claimed that it would be difficult for head coach Jose Peseiro to select which players will start against Angola in the ongoing 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, AFCON.

Nigeria will face Angola in the last-8 of the tournament in Ivory Coast on Friday.

Both countries booked their places in the quarter-finals after beating Cameroon and Namibia, respectively, in the round of 16.

Speaking to reporters at the end of the Super Eagles’ recovery session at the Ecole Nationale de la Police on Monday, Troost-Ekong said: “We are preparing for the game the same way as we prepare for every game so far in this tournament.

“Angola looks like a very good team, we are going to have to play our best football to try and beat them.

“We are working very hard, you can see it today in the training. Everyone is trying to do the maximum and it is going to be difficult for the coach to select who is going to play.

“From here we are going to be very focused for the game on Friday.”
