Manchester United legend, Roy Keane has warned Manchester City star Jack Grealish that he could lose his ‘sharpness’ if he fails to secure a regular playing time under manager Pep Guardiola.
Grealish was recently recalled by England’s interim manager Lee Carsley for the Three Lions’ Nations League wins over the Republic of Ireland and Finland, respectively.
The former Aston Villa captain failed to make England’s Euro 2024 squad under their former manager Gareth Southgate.
But Grealish produced two impressive displays for England against Ireland and Finland and Keane believes the the 29-year-old could struggle to make the next England squad if he is lacking playing time at Man City.
“Biggest thing for Jack is, I definitely think he needs to play regularly at Man City and that is obviously difficult, the challenges there,” Keane told ITV.
“I think he needs to be sharp. When he’s not playing regularly he does lose that sharpness very quickly. So it’s key he gets games at City.
‘Usually when you are doing well at club level, you are selected for your international team. So your bread and butter is what you do week-in, week-out at club level, particularly for players like Jack.”
