Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has explained why he took off Casemiro during the halftime of their 3-0 defeat to Liverpool on Sunday.

The Brazilian was at fault for their first two goals converted by Luis Diaz.

Ten Hag decided to replace Casemiro with Toby Collyer before the players came out for the second half.

It did not stop Mohamed Salah from adding a third.

But when asked about Casemiro being taken off, Ten Hag told reporters: “It is what the team needed. You know when you are 2-0 down against Liverpool you have to take more risks; it will be open.

“When you are losing you have to take more risks. I have to give compliments to the team. You have to keep fighting and sticking together.”
